Sophia Sibold

Dr. Sophia Sibold, DO, joined Monroe Health Center in March 2005. Since 2016, she has fulfilled both the positions of full-time physician and Medical Director. A graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, she is an active alumnus advocating for quality healthcare in rural areas through academic-community partnerships. Born, raised, and residing locally, she is deeply committed to her community’s well-being.
Jennifer Bailey

Dr. Jennifer Bailey, a board-certified pediatrician and graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, is deeply invested in offering quality pediatric care to rural communities. Her areas of expertise include pediatric mental health, breastfeeding medicine, and school health initiatives. She currently lives in Lewisburg, WV with her husband and two children.
Erica Dowdy

Erica Dowdy, PA-C joined Monroe Health Center in September 2005. She graduated from West Virginia University in 2002 with a Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology. She went on to receive her Masters Degree as a Physician Assistant from Mountain State University. Erica currently resides in Lewisburg with her husband Paul and their 3 children.
Carrie Beard

Dr. Beard graduated from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a Family Medicine residency program at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Lewisburg, WV. She is board certified in family medicine and her special interests include breastfeeding medicine, women’s health, and preventative care. She grew up in a small town in southwest Pennsylvania and currently resides in Lewisburg with her family.
Robin Johnson

Robin Johnson, a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, joined Monroe Health Center in May of 2012. She graduated from Bluefield State College and became licensed as a Registered Nurse in 2004. She later graduated from Marshall University with her Masters Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Robin is originally from Lindside, WV where she currently resides with her husband Kerry, son Tanner and daughter Kylee.
Jason Howell

In early 2022, Jason Howell joined Monroe Health Center. He earned a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Science from Mountain State University in 2005. With a focus on adult health, Jason has predominantly worked in Primary Care. After living away for years, he and his wife have returned to Greenbrier County. They cherish visits with their adult son, Caleb. Beyond patient care, they find joy in music, food, and spending time with their two dogs.
Morgan Sams

Morgan Sams is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated with her ADN in 2019 from Bluefield State College, her BSN in 2021 from Chamberlain University, and her MSN in Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain University in 2024. Morgan grew up in Greenbrier County where she currently resides with her husband, Adam.

Loria Chasnoff is an experienced Medical Massage Therapist at Monroe Health Center in Union, WV. With 35 years of experience, she specializes in pain management massage therapy, using various techniques. Loria is licensed in West Virginia and nationally certified with NCBTMB. She co-founded a free clinic and is dedicated to providing inclusive Massage Therapy. Loria is also a mother, organic hemp farmer, and co-owner of Dovetail Ridge Farm.

Jay holds a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Marshall University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Philosophy from Fairmont State. He has worked in community mental health, private practice and corrections. Jay enjoys working with all ages. He joined MHC in November of 2024.

Ellen Lambert is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who joined Monroe Health Center in 2021 working at the Forest Hill clinic. She received her under graduate from West Virginia Wesleyan and completed graduate studies from Walden University. Her background as an RN, BSN has been in emergency medicine, case management, home health, IV therapy throughout her 29 year career in the nursing field. She resides with her husband Jeff Lambert and family in Mercer County.

Dr. Ladier Canterbury, originally from Beckley, WV, joined Monroe Health Center in 2018. Holding a biology bachelor’s and a secondary education master’s from West Virginia University, she initially taught math and science. After a medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995 and a Family Medicine residency, she gained private and group practice experience. She now lives in Monroe County with her family.
John Terry

John Terry is a lifelong resident of Monroe Co. After graduating from Peterstown High School, he received his Bachelors in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College, and Master’s in Psychology from Radford University. He was licensed in 1989 and has been practicing over 30 yrs. He treats a variety of adult issues. His interests outside of work include church, family, and sports.

Amber Harper PA-C joined Monroe Health Center in September 2010. She graduated from Concord University with a Bachelors Degree and later went on to pursue her Masters as a Physician Assistant from Mountain State University. She has worked in Internal Medicine and Allergy & Asthma. She currently resides in Peterstown with her husband and two children.

Elizabeth “Beth” Jennings is a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience serving West Virginia. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Bluefield State University and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Marshall University. Beth has worked in various mental health settings, including community mental health, private practice, and school wellness centers. She has also taught psychology as an adjunct instructor at Bluefield State. Beth enjoys working with patients of all ages and lives in Monroe County with her family.

Candice “Candi” Young, a recent addition to MHC in 2023, considers it a blessing to serve her community. She obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing from Bluefield State in 2008 and pursued her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Nursing from WVU in 2017 and 2020. Candice lives with her two children in her Summers County hometown. She’s enthusiastic about promoting healthy eating, running, and supporting local youth sports.

Deborah Nolley is a Licensed Psychologist serving the residents of WV for more than 25 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Bluefield University and her Master of Science degree in psychology from Radford University. She has worked in various mental health settings, including community mental health, hospitals, and private practice. Mrs. Nolley is a member in good standing with the West Virginia Psychological Association and is excited to serve the patients of MHC.

Dr. Travis Hansbarger, MD joined Monroe Health Center as a full-time physician in 2007. He graduated from Marshall University School of Medicine and became Board Certified in Family Medicine in 1999. After graduating, Dr. Hansbarger completed his residency and worked as a full-time faculty member at Marshall University School of Medicine. He resides in Monroe County, West Virginia with his wife and dogs.

Tina Howard, a Family Nurse Practitioner, joined Monroe Health Center in 2015. Prior to this, she spent nearly 20 years as a critical care nurse before deciding to further her education and obtain her Nurse Practitioner license. Tina is dedicated to helping her patients make healthy life changes. The most important things in her life are her relationship with God, nurturing her family relationships, and helping others. Tina resides in New Castle, Virginia, with her four children and one daughter-in-law. She views life as an adventure and a blessing.

Laura Jane Barnard, is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She joined Monroe Health Center’s Craig County Clinic in July, 2024. She graduated with her ADN in 2018 from Mountain Gateway Community College, her BSN in 2019 from Davis and Elkins College, and her MSN in Family Nurse Practitioner from West Virginia University in 2024. She was raised in Monroe County, WV on her family’s dairy farm. She and her husband, Jacob, now reside in Botetourt County, VA where they enjoy spending time outdoors with their family and friends. Laura Jane has a passion for rural healthcare and is delighted to serve her community.

Her experience spans various West Virginia locations, including Lewisburg, Beckley, Romney, and Morgantown. She’s primarily worked in private practice but also spent time at a community mental health center and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine as a staff psychologist. Alicia enjoys working with clients of all ages.

Elizabeth is from Greenville, WV where she resides with her family.

Kent Patrick, originally from Virginia Beach, VA, has called Monroe County home for over 20 years. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Community Counseling from Radford University (2005), she brings a holistic and integrative approach to her practice. Kent is eager to work with students at the Monroe Health Center School-Based Wellness Center at James Monroe High School, where she is dedicated to fostering strong connections with her patients and offering them a safe environment to explore and understand themselves better.

Katrina Shires, FNP, has worked in Family Practice with the Monroe Health Center for 20 years, several years as an RN. She received her undergraduate from Mountain State University and completed her graduate studies for Family Nurse Practitioner in 2013 from Marshall University. She is a lifelong resident of Monroe County. Katrina and her family reside in Lindside, WV.

Kevin Harper earned his master’s degree in social work from Concord University in 2017. He is a licensed clinical social work and advanced alcohol and drug counselor. Kevin has worked in the community mental health setting as well as the school based setting in Monroe, Greenbrier and Summers County. He enjoys working with all age groups including children, teens, and adults. He lives in Monroe County with his wife Amber and their daughter.
