Good Faith Estimate
Healthcare providers must give uninsured or self-pay patients an estimate for medical services.
You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) outlining expected costs for non-emergency care, including related fees like tests, prescriptions, and hospital charges. Providers should give you a written GFE at least 1 business day before your service. You can also request one before scheduling. If your bill exceeds the GFE by $400 or more, you have the right to dispute it. Be sure to keep a copy of your GFE.
